AN EDUCATION IN ENGLISH, GUIDED BY RIGOUR AND CREATIVITY

The International Section at Sequoia Nova delivers a self-directed, English‑medium education aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), giving every child a solid grounding in reading, writing, mathematics, critical thinking and personal expression.

In Lower Primary (ages 6 – 8), learners follow the same rigorous yet caring framework as in the French track: Project‑Based Learning (PBL), step‑by‑step competency progression, bespoke work plans and mastery‑based assessment. This structure invites children to think independently, work collaboratively and anchor new knowledge in real‑world contexts.

Upper Primary (ages 8 – 11) embraces an innovative blended model. Core theory is introduced through our secure online platform, while practical application, project work, workshop time and one‑to‑one guidance take place face‑to‑face. The arrangement fosters autonomy, nurtures responsibility and builds long‑term transferable skills.

Learning extends well beyond the classroom. Daily physical education, outdoor play, movement workshops and regular contact with nature enhance overall well‑being, coordination, concentration and self‑confidence.

Finally, groups are organised by developmental stage rather than strict age, creating a flexible, individualised and genuinely human environment in which each learner advances at a comfortable pace, supported by a climate of trust and cooperation.

BLENDED LEARNING FOR UPPER PRIMARY

At Sequoia Nova, our Upper Primary learners (ages 8–11) follow a blended learning model that unites the advantages of carefully selected educational technology with face‑to‑face guidance in hands‑on projects. This innovative structure lets children move naturally between self‑paced online sequences and guided classroom sessions dedicated to practical application, collaboration and reflection.

Far from a merely digital solution, the approach personalises each pathway, strengthens autonomy, self-direction and gives learners the tools to study in an active, thoughtful manner that stays firmly connected to the real world. Under the watchful support of committed teachers, pupils refine both academic and transferable competences: critical thinking, time management, articulate speaking, mutual support and vivid intellectual curiosity.

In doing so, the model equips our Upper Primary cohort to become self-directed, agile, responsible learners – taking charge of their education —ready to adapt with confidence to a wide variety of present and future learning landscapes.
