Our reading journey begins with a systematic, 100% syllabic approach that is both progressive and rigorous. In Year 2 we employ the APILI programme, whose blend of humour, mnemonic gestures and clear phonology enables children to decode quickly while understanding and enjoying what they read from the very start.

As they move into Years 3 and 4, the emphasis shifts to fluency, deep comprehension and genre‑specific strategies. Guided reading, literature circles and explicit teaching of reading techniques help each learner become a confident, reflective reader, able to analyse and interpret a wide range of texts.

Writing instruction follows a carefully sequenced progression in spelling, grammar, conjugation and vocabulary. We highlight orthographic regularities and use an innovative horizontal conjugation grid so children grasp patterns before memorising them. New language points are immediately reinvested in purposeful tasks—stories, reports, letters and project journals—giving every piece a real audience and clear intent. Short video capsules introduce certain concepts at home, freeing class time for lively, hands‑on workshops. In this way, precision and creativity grow together, shaping resilient young authors.

Mathematics unfolds from concrete manipulation to abstraction, in line with current didactic research. From Year 2 to Year 4 we draw on Rémi Brissiaud’s methods—Les Noums followed by J’apprends les maths—which make number sense visual, tactile and intuitive. Concepts are continually woven into broader projects through games, practical materials and motivating problem‑solving activities, so learners see mathematics as both meaningful and exciting.
